The mass production of this product has broken the monopoly of a few global enterprises on nickel alloy plates of this specification, providing a more competitive material solution for the Oil and Gas, Chemical Industry and other fields. As a typical high-performance corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant alloy, the large-scale mass production of NAS625 nickel alloy marks a key step forward in China's wide-width nickel alloy processing field.
It is understood that NAS625 nickel alloy, as a high-performance corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant alloy, is widely used in many fields such as oil and gas, chemical industry and automobiles. However, due to its high high-temperature strength and high rolling difficulty, especially the production of ultra-thin and ultra-wide plates, it has always been an industry technical problem. Previously, due to production technology limitations, the wide-width plates required for fields such as special pipelines in natural gas plants mostly adopted narrow plate welding technology, which not only had a long production cycle and high cost, but also had certain potential safety hazards.
To break through this technical bottleneck, Nippon Yakin Kogyo Co., Ltd., through its joint venture Nanjing Iron and Steel Nippon Yakin Metallurgical Trading (Nanjing) Co., Ltd., deepened cooperation with Nanjing Iron and Steel. With the advantage of Nanjing Iron and Steel's wide-width rolling mill and combined with its long-term accumulated smelting and processing experience, on the basis of successfully realizing the commercialization of 50mm extra-thick ultra-wide plates in 2021, it further optimized the production conditions, overcame the core problems such as temperature control and strength control in the rolling process of thin-gauge ultra-wide plates, and finally realized the large-scale production of NAS625 ultra-wide plates with 15mm thickness and 3100mm width.
The successful mass production of this ultra-wide plate has significant industry value and market advantages. At the application level, the use of this ultra-wide plate can realize single-weld manufacturing of natural gas plant pipelines, greatly reducing welding man-hours, shortening the production cycle and reducing production costs; at the supply level, production and sales in China through the joint venture have effectively solved the transportation problem of ultra-wide plates and improved the efficiency of product supply. At present, the product has achieved a sales volume of 50 tons in the Chinese market, and plans to expand to the natural gas and liquefied natural gas project markets in the Middle East and other places in the future.
Industry insiders said that the commercialization of NAS625 ultra-wide plates not only demonstrates the breakthrough of the nickel alloy industry in the field of processing technology, but also provides a new possibility for the diversified supply of global high-end nickel alloy products, which will further promote the technological upgrading and cost optimization of downstream industries such as oil and gas.
