Hastelloy B-2 (UNS N10665, W.Nr 2.4617) is a high-performance nickel-molybdenum solid solution strengthened alloy, specially engineered for extreme reducing corrosion environments. As an improved version of Hastelloy B, it features extremely low carbon and silicon content, which effectively eliminates grain-boundary carbide precipitation issues and enhances weldability and post-weld corrosion resistance.
This alloy is renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance in reducing media, especially in hydrochloric acid of all concentrations and temperatures, as well as sulfuric acid, acetic acid, and phosphoric acid environments. It also exhibits excellent resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking and pitting, while maintaining stable mechanical properties at service temperatures up to 480°C.
Hastelloy B-2 bars and rods have good ductility, excellent weldability, and machinability, making them suitable for manufacturing high-precision mechanical parts such as pump shafts, valve stems, fasteners, and reactor internals. Widely used in chemical processing, wet metallurgy, pharmaceutical, and petrochemical industries, they are the preferred material for equipment operating in strong reducing corrosion environments.
